About Kate Jackson
Kate Jackson is a British artist and singer-songwriter whose work explores the beauty and complexity of the built environment. Drawing inspiration from Brutalist architecture, motorway flyovers, bridges and urban landscapes, she creates bold, graphic paintings that transform everyday structures into striking visual narratives. Using layered acrylic paint and vibrant colour palettes influenced by popular culture, Jackson highlights the sculptural qualities of concrete and the changing character of modern cities. She looks to capture fleeting moments of beauty in the brutal that are usually left unseen and not noticed.
Before focusing on visual art, she was the lead singer of Sheffield indie band The Long Blondes, releasing two albums on Rough Trade Records between 2006 and 2008, and a solo singer and songwriter, collaborating with Bernard Butler on the album 'British Road Movies' released in 2016. She continues to reflect her fascination with place, memory, the road and contemporary British culture across many musical and visual art projects.
